A parliamentary committee heard that poverty, alcohol abuse and young mothers who refuse to breastfeed are the leading causes of malnutrition in the Zambezi region.

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Gender Equality, Social Development, and Family Affairs is conducting regional consultative meetings and familiarisation visits to state hospitals on malnutrition in Namibia.
