The Ministry of Environment, Forestry, and Tourism (MEFT) has clarified that the burning or destroying of its natural resources, wildlife, or genetic material is against the Constitution. Therefore, the ivory stockpile will remain reserved for sale, despite the recent signing of an agreement that is against the trade of ivory.
Namibia signed the European Union’s (EU) Samoa Agreement late last year, which was initially delayed as the agreement does not condone the trade of ivory.
