Four people have so far died in shack fires in Windhoek this year compared to one in 2023.

Statistics from the City of Windhoek fire department show that two people died in shack fires in 2022.

City of Windhoek Senior Station Officer Sikongo Fillipus said fire calls decreased from 912 to 705.
