Emerging from South Africa’s Kwa-Zulu Natal Province and expanding into Namibia in 2007, the Star for Life initiative has established girls’ clubs in schools across several regions of the country, with a focus on empowering young girls on issues such as teenage pregnancy, gender-based violence, sexual reproductive health, and entrepreneurship, among others.

According to the Country Director, Christine Joao, the initiative has boosted the self-esteem of many girls participating in the school clubs.
