Police Lieutenant Inspector General Joseph Shikongo is not retiring after turning 60. Shikongo celebrated his 60th birthday this week.
Shikongo said he would continue his duties until the end of the month when he expects his contract to be extended.
He made these remarks during the official opening of the Namibian Police Fun Day in Windhoek.
“So far, up to now, I’ve not been contacted by anybody. So therefore, I remain in my office until the end of the month. If there is anything, whether extension or me to go home, it is actually determined by the appointing authority,” said Shikongo.
Police force members will participate in various activities, including soccer and netball, during the fun day.
