The Swapo Party is set to host its electoral college, commonly known as the “pot,” this weekend.

The event features 600 delegates, including members of parliament and the central committee, with 84 individuals expected to be selected for the final list.

Swapo Party Secretary General Sophia Shaningwa expressed hopes that participants will vote sensitively and consider young people in the selection process.

“I’m also hoping that the participants, those who have the voting rights, will vote with sensitivity because we all need each other as a country, as a citizen, and therefore it will be my desire to see to it that when they are voting for one another, they also consider all of us from the four corners of our country and mostly consider the young people also because as we are ageing. There is really a need for Swapo to start grooming the young people to take on the party and to take up the government come the future,” said Shaningwa.

Shaningwa also announced that the electoral college results will be released on Monday.

“I think with the capable team that we have put together; I think by early Monday we will be able to announce the results,” stated Shaningwa.

Shaningwa hopes that the party remains united and positive after the Electoral College.
