Police have evicted 61-year-old pensioner, Paulina !Gaoses, from a family house she had lived for over 40 years. The house where the family of 12 stayed is in Windhoek’s Nama location.

The house belonged to Paulina’s late mother, Martha !Gaoses, who passed away earlier this year.

Martha’s grandson, Leonard !Gaoseb, transferred the house into his name and used it as bank collateral.

Leonard failed to repay the loan, resulting in the bank auctioning the house for N$250 000 in November last year.

“There are 12 of us, including three babies, living in this house. We have nowhere to go. It was sold by my sister’s child, who had an agreement with the bank,”remarked  !Gaoses

Katutura East Constituency, Councillor Richard !Gaoseb said the police and magistrates are not evaluating eviction cases.

The Katutura police station commander, Edson Eiseb, said they enforced a court order.

Attempts to get a comment from Leonard were unsuccessful by the time of airing, as one of his numbers was unreachable.
