Women make up more than half of the country’s population, which has been the trend during the past four censuses.

This was revealed in the Namibia Statistics Agency (NSA) 2023 Population and Housing Census preliminary report today, which indicates that there are currently over 1.5 million females compared to over 1.4 million males in the country.

Speaking at the event, NSA statistician-general Alex Shimuafeni announced that the country’s population has grown to 3,022,401.

Of this figure, 51.2 percent are females, while 48.8 percent are male. This translates to a national sex ratio of 95 males for 100 females.
