The Urban and Rural Development Ministry launched its second revised National Housing Policy and the Implementation Action Plan.

This initiative aims to provide better land and housing access in cities and rural areas by 2030. Namibia faces several challenges, including rapid urbanisation, mushrooming of informal settlements and poverty.

Currently, half of the population lacks adequate sanitation, and 67% of the urban population lives in informal settlements. Namibia faces a housing backlog of 300,000, which requires N$76 billion to clear.
