The Ministry of Health and Social Services has refuted allegations that its cobalt-60 radiation machine, which uses rays to fight cancer, is dysfunctional.
This comes after NewsonOne learned in a recent interview with the Cancer Association of Namibia, that the machine used for therapy on cancer patients at the Windhoek Central Hospital is reportedly broken, and patients were now being referred to private medical centres for treatment.
The executive director in the ministry of health, Dr. Ben Nangombe, says that the machine is functional, however, its radiation source is depleting and will be replaced next month.
