The Namibian Police Inspector-General, Joseph Shikongo, has urged officers promoted to Commissioners to be responsible in their new roles and positions.

The promotion from chief inspectors to deputy commissioner and full commissioners comes after 7000 members were promoted late last year.

Those promoted include Petrus Swartz, from deputy commissioner to full commissioner and will now head the traffic law enforcement directorate; Auster Linanga from chief inspector to deputy commissioner; Rehabeam Hengari from chief inspector to deputy commissioner and is appointed as head of the ceremonial and recreational division. 

In addition, Ester Nghihalwa was also promoted from chief inspector to deputy commissioner and will head the protocol division; while Erickson Moshanah is from chief inspector to deputy commissioner.
These promotions were effective from the 01st of April.
