LPM has accepted activist Michael Amushelelo’s resignation. Amushelelo rejoined the NEFF on Wednesday.

LPM national spokesperson Lifalaza Simataa confirmed Amushelelo’s resignation. Simataa, however, pointed out that Amushelelo by passed the formal resignation procedures.

“We as LPM accept the strict resignation of Amushelelo.  And why we call it this is that this resignation was done on social media on the outskirts and did not go through the formal channels.

We do not have any formal written expression of his resignation. However, due to the popularity and social media and it being picked up by multiple media outlets and so forth, we therefore have accepted his resignation as is. We no longer consider him a member of the Landless People’s Movement,” stated Simataa, while refuting a claim that LPM is an exile home following Amushelelo’s departure from NEFF after it was deregistered.

Amushelelo said his return to NEFF was not motivated by parliamentary ambitions.

“Those who now want to call me an opportunist and to say that perhaps at LPM I did not go to parliament and anything of that sort, let it be understood, at LPM I never contested to go to parliament, said Amushelelo.
