JSB Sports Betting has paid out a record N$7 million to a 35-year-old Windhoek man.

Manager Jevon Wilson confirmed the hefty prize the man won on Monday after placing a N$16 bet on a soccer 13 pool, in which he got the predictions correct.

Wilson said the previous record payout was N$3.7 million  won in 2022. Wilson said that the N$7 million is Namibia’s biggest payout and one of the largest payouts in Africa.

“This is the biggest payout any sports betting company has paid out. I’m proud to say that. And yeah, we’re excited to see, you know, who’s the next big winner. We had two years back,  we had N$3.7 million, now we have double. So perhaps next year we’re going to have another double,” said Wilson.

Wilson said JSB Sports Betting will provide financial counsellors to assist the winner in investing and managing his newfound wealth.

“The financial counsellors will then obviously assist him with investing, with saving money and just to have better financial health, which is something, as you said, mentioned there. So yeah, but post winnings, we’ll still provide him with our support and make sure that he is in the mental space and capacity to always, have a responsible spending habit,” said Wilson.

When asked how he would use his winnings, the 35-year-old winner responded that he plans to invest part of the money and start small businesses.

The winner, who prefers to remain anonymous, said he has university qualifications and plans to put them into practice.

“I already had plans. I am self-employed so I felt I could invest in some of my business ventures and part of it I will put aside for future investments, in terms of savings. But other than that I have plans to boost up my small business and help those around me that were there for me in the difficult moments, they will taste part of the pie”.
