The Ministry of Health and Social Services, supported by the Robert Koch Institute, is hosting a two-day workshop themed ‘Strengthening Integrated Genomic Surveillance through greater capacities in national public institutes’ or IGS project.  

At the workshop in the capital, the Health Ministry’s Executive Director, Ben Nangombe, said the COVID-19 pandemic underscored the need for robust health infrastructure and revealed vulnerabilities in the country’s health system as well as the indispensable role of genomic surveillance in managing and controlling infectious diseases.
