Education executive director, Sanet Steenkamp, has urged learners not to feel overwhelmed by any situation that would lead them to take their own life.

Thus, Steenkamp advised the learners to share their problems with someone they trust. Steenkamp also asked the parents not to compare their child with siblings when they receive poor academic grades, but rather to offer support.

This comes after 17-year-old Shatiwa Tuhafeni Nghifilenga committed suicide last Thursday after failing his grade 11 school exams. The incident happened at Onamutayi- Onanke village in the Oshikoto region.

According to the incident report issued by Deputy Commissioner Kauna Shikwambi, the deceased was found hanging from the roof of his bedroom with a rope around his neck by his uncle after he (Nghifilenga) returned from the local cuca shops in the early morning hours.
