The City of Windhoek held a groundbreaking ceremony on Tuesday to install five high mast lights in Havana’s informal settlements to enhance safety and security for the residents. The project has been met with overwhelming support from residents, who say the inadequate lighting has made the settlement unsafe. The N$2.8 million project is expected to be completed in July this year.

The high mast lights project is part of the city’s efforts to improve living conditions in informal settlements and create safer environments for residents. In addition to the installation at the Havana dump site, lights will also be installed at Goreangab soccer field and Eehambo dha Nehale among others.
