In a groundbreaking move towards sustainable waste management, the city of Windhoek in collaboration with the European Union and the city of Bremen on Friday inaugurated the waste buy-back centre, the first of its kind in the country.

Funded by the EU to the tune of 2.2 million euros under the Windhoek-Bremen sister cities, the initiative allows residents to earn money by collecting and selling recyclable materials, such as cans and plastics, among others.
